2001:

Robot Wars is changing this year, there will now be a whole series of specials, tag-teams, games etc. (which will be called Robot Wars Extreme) as well as the main competition. Chaos 2 will be entered in both Extreme and the Main Series.

The weight limit has also gone up to 100Kg (from 80Kg), so we've been able to rebuild the flipper mechanism to make it a bit more powerful.

Can we win three in a row? I don't know, but I do know that anyone who wants the Robot Wars Title is going to have to fight for it!

2000:

Well, Chaos 2, after performing spectacularly in Series 3, will be in Series 4.
We're sticking with the same team (a winning formula!) and we'll be adding some small modifications to the robot.

All you robot builders out there now know what you're up against, so there's no excuse for you not being able to beat us. Mind you, we don't intend to make it easy for you! See you all in Series 4...

1999:

Like all of my previous robots, I built Chaos 2 in Rex Garrod's Workshop in
Mickfield, nr Stowmarket, as I don't have the machine tools needed. This must be one of the most prolific workshops as between us we have now built 6! (Recyclops, Robot the Bruce, Cassius, Chaos, Cassius II and Chaos 2).

As always, the difficult mechanical parts for my robots were made by Rex (with help from Simon west), and the difficult Electronic parts for his were made by me. This year I have a new team member, Ian, as Mike Cutter, my team member for the last two years has been poached by Rex to drive Cassius 2 for him. (I didn't realize just how good a driver Mike was until he won the East Anglian Regional R/C Model Car Championship.) That's my loss, Rex's gain, so on to the new season and I've been joined by Ian, a friend, colleague and general smart alec!.

Chaos 1
( My entry for RW series 2)

A reasonably successful robot, which lost to 'Mace' in the last battle of our heat.
It's crowning moment was getting Dead Metal into the pit in the 'Tug of War'.

It's main problems were lack of power in the flipper (bore of valves & pipework too small), tipping forwards when flipping (front wheels not far enough forwards) and difficulty in getting the weapon under the opposition (flipper too narrow, or driver not good enough, or both!)

It was powered by 2 Sinclair C5 motors, it was fast, manouverable and powerful, it's just the weapon that didn't work as planned!

The original Chaos chassis, as seen at the Series 2 auditions, it was completely rebuilt prior to filming the 2nd series.
